Fia requirements state that it must be fitted in areas that may be impacted by the drivers head during an incident.
To achieve the FIA standard 8857-2001 for both impact and fire resistance, Lifeline padding was tested by the UK's TRL (Transport Research Laboratory) and had to meet Type A criteria before approval was granted.
